OUR PROGRAMME

HOW THE PROGRAMME IS STRUCTURED

The DCC Graduate Programme offers you the opportunity to undertake two 12-month placements in different businesses, divisions and potentially in different countries.

WHAT YOU COULD BE DOING

We offer placements in a variety of areas within our programme.

  • Some focus on branding and marketing, with tasks such as designing and implementing a social media strategy for one of our businesses, or analysing competitors and market size to devise strategies for new product launches.
  • Others focus on the strategy or commercial side of our business. Here you’ll have the chance to develop customer relationships, gain in-depth product knowledge and work with senior management on business forecasting and planning.
  • Logistics placements will expose you to different elements of business operations. You’ll learn the ins and outs of how we manage the supply chain, from co-ordinating tankers to helping shopping sites deliver.
  • Our IT placements allow you to manage major projects from start to finish and explore new opportunities for technological innovation across the DCC group. You could have the chance to develop your skills in everything from cyber security and cloud infrastructure engineering to strategic design and digital marketing.

Each of our placements will present you with unique challenges and give you a deep insight into the businesses you have placements with, as well as the chance to learn and develop new skills along the way.

DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT

CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT

During your time on the programme, you will also have the opportunity to gain a professional qualification, sponsored by us.

Examples include:

  • ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
  • CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing)
  • CISA (Certified Information System Auditor)
  • CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
  • Change Management, PRINCE2 (project management)
  • Agile Project Management

As we operate in 22 countries, one of your placements might be with a business that requires you to speak another language. If this is the case, we will support you with one-to-one lessons to enhance your language skills.

REGULAR FEEDBACK

As a graduate, you’ll be given regular feedback through the use of structured performance and development plans, meaning each line manager contributes to your development.

ONGOING SUPPORT

We do everything we can to help you get the most out of the programme.

Your Buddy

Before you start your placement, you will be allocated a buddy from a previous cohort of graduates. Your buddy will support you throughout your time on the graduate programme, and in the months leading up to your start date.

Your Coach

You will be assigned a professional coach who will help you identify key strengths and development areas to work on and find solutions to challenges you may face during the programme.

Your Line Manager

You will have a different line manager for each of your placements on the Graduate Programme. You and your line manager will discuss and agree your goals and objectives for each placement.

Your Graduate Business Contact

You’ll be connected to local graduate business contacts, who are typically members of the local HR team, before you join. They’ll be on hand to help you with any business-related queries you have ahead of your placement with them.

Your Graduate Programme Team

The Graduate Programme Team is on hand to support you during the recruitment process, the two years on the programme and beyond.

HOW TO APPLY

The graduate selection process is a chance for you to show us your potential, supporting you in demonstrating your skills and experience. Are you ready to take your first steps towards a career at DCC? Here's more information on each stage of our application process.

Application Form

Your first step will be to complete an online application form. This includes some eligibility questions which will help us check if you meet the requirements of the programme. The form will also capture your work experience and education.

The graduate programme recruitment team will review your application and if you meet the criteria, you will be invited to the next stage.

Online Assessment

During this stage, you will be invited to complete an online assessment which consists of behavioural, numerical and verbal questions, finishing with a video interview where you will record your responses to a series of questions. The assessment should take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Assessment Centre

Our final stage of the assessment process allows us to get to know you in person. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your relevant skills and abilities through participating in an interview, a presentation and a group exercise. During the assessment centre, you’ll also be invited to attend our Graduate Programme Networking Event where you’ll be introduced to our company culture. This is a great opportunity to meet people from DCC and ask any questions you may have.
