Partnering with energy through collaboration with Arcadia eFuels and Sunclass Airlines in Denmark

DCC plc, the leading international sales, marketing, and support services group, announces that it has signed a Letter of Intent to supply approximately 18,000 metric tonnes of eJet fuel yearly to Sunclass Airlines through its DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark joint venture.

eJet fuel, sometimes called synthetic kerosene, is a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced from carbon dioxide (CO2), water and renewable electricity and has the potential to significantly reduce emissions from aviation.

DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark is a joint venture between DCC Holding Denmark and Shell’s global aviation fuel business. Responsible for the logistics and supply of Shell jet fuel to seven Danish airports, the company is the largest independent jet fuel supplier to Danish aviation.

As a Nordic airline, Sunclass Airlines has a great interest in improving its impact on the climate by reducing the use of fossil fuels. The strategy for Sunclass Airlines and its parent company, Nordic Leisure Travel Group, is to reduce carbon emissions by investing in improvements to the aircraft fleet, in own branded hotels and in facilities across the group. In addition to these important steps, the company is committed to make investments in sustainable aviation fuel.

Fabian Ziegler, CEO of DCC Energy, commented:
“DCC Energy is proud to accelerate the net zero journey of our customers by leading the sales, marketing and distribution of renewable energy solutions such as eFuels, which are a growing route to reduce emissions from aviation. We are delighted to support Arcadia eFuels’ plans to produce more sustainable fuel and to bring it to our customer Sunclass Airlines.”

Amy Hebert, CEO of Arcadia eFuels, added:
“Arcadia eFuels is excited to be working together with Sunclass Airlines and DCC Shell Aviation Denmark on decarbonizing aviation. It is an important step towards reaching decarbonization goals and scaling up green fuels for a net zero world. This type of collaboration is exactly what we need to bring efuels to market.”

Torben Østergaard, MD at Sunclass Airlines, added:
“We are happy to have established a cooperation with Arcadia and DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark and look forward to a future supply of SAF fuel (eKerosene). This type of collaboration is important for Nordic Leisure Travel Group and supports our strategy to reduce our carbon emissions with 25% by 2030 and our long-term vision to completely avoid carbon emissions by 2050.”
