DCC Environmental provides a broad range of waste management  and recycling services to the industrial/commercial construction and public sectors in both Britain and Ireland. Through its 50% shareholding in William Tracey and its subsidiary Wastecycle, DCC has built a significant position in the British waste management and recycling industry. Enva, is the leading hazardous waste treament business in Ireland.  DCC Environmental currently employs 490 people.

Britain

Driven by increasing legislation and taxation, Britain is seeking to aggressively reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and to bring waste management in line with best practice in continental Europe. New regulations and taxes have been introduced which give further impetus to DCC's strategy to become a leading player in the British waste management and recycling industry. Its combined businesses handle approximately one million tonnes of waste using 170 vehicles.

Operating from nine sites,William Tracey is Scotland's leading recycling and waste management company. The business operates a number of fully integrated facilities to treat, recover and dispose of a wide range of waste, including the manufacture of recycled products.

Wastecycle is a leading recycling and waste management company based in Nottingham, England. Operating from a 15-acre site, the company provides a comprehensive waste collection and recycling service to industrial, commercial and local authority customers.

Ireland

DCC Environmental's subsidiary, Enva, is the leading hazardous waste treatment business in Ireland. Operating from six licensed sites, the business offers a wide range of services including soil remediation, oil recycling, chemical and water treatment and metal recovery.

Strategy and Development

DCC's strategy is to grow its position as a leading roadly based waste management and recycling business in Britain and Ireland.  DCC aims to position the business to take advantage of the trend towards more sustainable waste management with an emphasis on recycling. This strategy will be driven both organically and by acquisition.

Performance Management

DCC Environmental is focused on maximising shareholders' returns through organic and acquisition growth. The performance of the business is closely monitored through a range of key indicators including sales volumes, incoming material tonnage, recycling targets, gross margins and cost of treatment. Over the last ten years, DCC Environmental has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 63.7% in operating profit.
